Which has Better Value: Plasma or LCD TV?
Both plasma and LCD are considered mainstream. Plasma and LCD look physically the same in terms of their external appearance. However, images are produced in different ways. Plasma screens use a matrix of tiny gas plasma cells charged by precise electrical voltages to create a picture. LCD screens are sandwiches made up of liquid crystal pushed in a space between two glass plates. Images are created by varying the amount of electrical charge applied to the crystal.
Both come in different sizes and this has something to do with what to choose between the two. Experts suggest that plasma technology is a good bet for 50 inch televisions and above. 50 inch plasma TV or bigger has the edge over their LCD counterpart. With smaller size flat TVs (17-inch to 42-inch) LCDs are the way to go. LCDs are also getting cheaper by the day.
