These mechanized means of transport do not really come cheap. The cost of maintenance, though, is just a fraction of what will cost you if you drove around in a car. Aside from the minimal cost of maintenance electric trikes have other advantages. They offer an environmentally friendly means of commute. Because it is electrically powered, you can get to your destination fresh and sweat-free.
However, electric trikes have disadvantages, too. Speed range is limited to around 18 to 25 miles because of the limited capacity of the battery. Batteries need to be charged daily and it takes a few hours depending on the type of battery in use. Some electric trikes, especially those that run on lead acid batteries can weigh as much as 30 kg. Carrying it around can be a real strain.
