upcoming science fiction movies

Science fiction (or sci-fi) is a genre of fiction based on current or future science or technology. It can be the subject of films, television shows, books, magazines, art, and other media. Although imagined, all or some elements in a sci-fi material are based on possible scientific phenomena. This then makes it different from fantasy. Science fiction films usually revolve around disasters, extra-terrestrial life forms, and monster attacks. Production of such films is mainly made possible by the aid of computers to create visual effects.

Previous and upcoming science fiction movies deal with common elements like aliens, time travel, robots, and high-tech futuristic spacecrafts. They can also be based on alternative political or social systems. The first sci-fi movie was produced by George Melies in 1902 when silent cinema was still in place. Titled ‘A Trip to the Moon’, the film astounded viewers with its photographic effects. However, it was only in 1968 when the sci-fi film genre was taken more seriously with the release of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
