It’s a little tricky to get the right picture if the lighting is bad. Bright lights, shadows, and artificial lighting can result in some very awkward photos. But a little tweaking with your digital camera flash can help you overcome your lighting problems and produce the photo you want.

Get to know your camera’s flash settings so you can find out how to temper your lighting. Since a digital camera allows you to delete ugly photos in an instant, use each of your flash settings in different locations and lighting situations so you’ll know which setting goes with the kind of natural or artificial lighting present. Remember your flash settings, or if your flash is not enough, consider getting an external flash to help you out.
