Magic Mount

As a former film student, I used to make short films every week. The term film is actually incorrect since we used video cameras back in the late 80s. Film cameras were just too expensive for film students. The subject was film making but we used handy video cameras to make “film” assignments. We started with easy assignments; conversations, movement and story conflict. Eventually we had to do action scenes. Back then there was no such thing as a Merlin Steadicam back then. We simply had to hold our cameras really tight while we stuck our heads out of car windows when filming.

Today, I work with a TV company. I see our production team mount their Merlin Steadicam every day when shooting car chase scenes. This camera mount is so portable. It does not take up too much space. It installs easily and can hold most brands of video cameras easily. It has a steady grip which can be tightened and loosened anytime.
