Many people are getting into the hobby of photography because it is a “portable” diversion that can be taken wherever one goes. Some are even making good money with their photography. However, the transition from a hobbyist to a professional can take a while. This is because the ability to shoot professional photography is usually developed only after several formal trainings and years of experience. Moreover, it also requires a quality camera – an SLR or DSLR – which are rather expensive and can take the photographer some time to buy.

Beginners aiming to become professionals are then advised to practice and first experiment with technique. The point and shoot digital camera is best for a novice since it is easy to operate. It is also very handy in capturing moments during special events like birthdays and vacations. These days, cameras of this kind also come with exciting features like optical and digital zoom, and special image effects. Once the basic rules in photography have been mastered, one may move on to a more complicated type of camera.
